Summer Makeup Regimen

With warmer temps and potential humidity during the spring and summer months, it is imperative to tailor your makeup regime. Foundation that flawlessly covers blemishes during the winter months can quickly turn into a hot mess in the heat.  Consider switching to a tinted moisturizer that will provide light coverage, a kiss of color, and of course SPF.  This one from Laura Mercier has a cult following, and is also available in an oil-free version.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, $44

Have you tried brush-on sunscreen?  It makes perfect sense, if you think about it.  It’s difficult to properly protect your face without making your face a greasy mess.  This powder locks in to your pores, working as both a matte powder, a bronzer, and a SPF.  It comes in several shades to match most skin tones.

Colorescience Sunforgettable Brush-On Sunscreen, $79

Heavy eye makeup and high temperatures typically do not mix well.  If you do decide to imbibe in eyeshadow in the summer, be sure to coat  your lids with this primer, which will not allow shadow to smudge or smear.

Nars Pro-Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base, $26

This Stila liner is so versatile in terms of the line it can produce.  You can create a subtle look, or go all out with a bold cat-eye.  Waterproof, it glides on perfectly.  Easy even for the novice eyeliner user.

Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid EyeLiner, $22

Don’t forget about your lips.  Keep this bad boy on your person at all times this summer to protect your kisser from the sun’s rays.  It also tastes amazing, and the packaging is so clean and pretty.

Coola Liplux, $12
