It’s fascinating to consider how much swimwear trends can change from season to season…particularly since there is so little fabric associated with swimsuits. Perhaps due to the festival-season fashion movement, swimwear-as-clothing has gained much momentum in recent years, resulting in some really fun, “cheeky” designs (see what I did there?)
Believe it or not, one-piece styles are trending big time this summer. To be sure, these are *not* your mother’s one-pieces, but rather a new way to think beyond the bikini and show some serious skin.
This first one is a take on the monokini, and is sure to create interesting tan lines!
For better or for worse, the frong is still a thing. What is a frong, you ask? A frontal thong. Make sure you are 100% up to date on your waxing for this one. I’m having Baywatch flashbacks with this 1980’s vibe!
This next suit combines two hot swimwear trends: asymmetrical and cut-out. A two-for-one, this suit is half one-piece, half bikini.
I love this style below – so feminine. It combines a DFV-esque wrap-dress look with a ruffle or two.
Hmmm…although this suit provides a whole lotta coverage, that doesn’t mean it will be flattering. But we are all entitled to our own opinion.
Let’s move on to bikini styles. With bikini bottoms, pretty much anything goes. You will continue to see some of the same styles as in past season: Brazilian, side-tie, high waist, cheeky, and thong.
With the trending of all things off the shoulder, cold shoulder, and cutout shoulder, it is no surprise that this trend is crossing over to swimwear.
This tiny-tee silhouette is popping up everywhere, and has a darling, flirty cut.
Undergarments as swimwear are among the most comfortable styles available in a bikini. Flattering, low maintenance, and utilitarian: if you should actually want to swim while at the beach, this style is for you.
Denim, or at least a very lightweight version thereof, is popping up on the beach.
