2017’s Paint Color of the Year according to Benjamin Moore
A few weeks back, we blogged about Sherwin-Williams 2017 Paint Color of the Year, which they declared to be Poised Taupe.
Now it’s Benjamin Moore’s turn to make their official proclamation. Their pick is a darker, stormier, and arguably bolder. Introducing Shadow.
You might be wondering how these paint companies come up with their choices, and what criteria goes into their decisions. Benjamin Moore influencers travel the globe, photographing objects in nature, and trends seen in apparel. Coupling these images with the general emotional state of our nation and the world as a whole, they vote on their favorite hues. Ironically, Benjamin Moore debuted their choice of Shadow on the same evening as the final presidential debate. A theatrical season demands a theatrical hue to represent it.
It takes the right space to make this one work. In certain light, it appears austere and plum-like. In others, like this one, it appears flat-out Prince-y, Barney-ish, grape-esque, in your face PURPLE.
Are you on Team Poised Taupe, or Team Shadow?
