There is something about the summer that makes you want to sweeten up your cocktail – but not TOO much. It’s a fine line between the over-simple-syrupy goo that we’ve all sucked down, and a gingerly, light summer sipper with a hint of citrus-y sweetness. Even if you are not a gin lover (I’m not!), try this – it’s amazing. If you are not familiar with Limoncello, it is a lemon liquor of Southern Italian heritage. It is composed of lemon zest which is steeped in alcohol, and simple syrup. It’s light and citrusy, and not overpowering. This will make a great recipe for any 4th of July gathering.
1 ounce Limoncello
1 ounce Gin (Kendrick’s or Tanqueray – no cheap liquor allowed!)
Club Soda to taste
Lemon slices, to garnish
Mix the Limoncello and gin; pour into a highball glass over ice, and top with club soda and lemon slice.
