Milan, one of the fashion capitals of the world, is in the midst of it’s 2016 Fashion Week with celebrities such as Cameron Dallas hitting the runway for Calvin Klein and Lil’ Wayne performing onstage.
One highlight from this historic fashion week is the tribute paid by Milan designers to the late David Bowie’s unique sense of style in their menswear previews.
According to Yahoo News, “Costume National designer Ennio Capasa and Roberto Cavalli’s Peter Dundas both said that the musician had often been a font of inspiration, apparent also in these collections previewing just a week after Bowie’s death. Donatella Versace saluted the singer with a single burst of Bowie’s hit “Ground Control to Major Tom” at the end of her futuristic, outer-space-inspired runway show.”
Ennio Capasa’s “Under Pressure,” menswear preview for the next winter season was named for the Bowie song, for the state of the world after frequent violent attacks and for the state of a fashion industry being taken over by fast-fashion.
