Old School Tennies

There are several iconic sneaker designs from decades ago that seemingly have never gone out of fashion.  And you don’t need to scour your nearest thrift store to find the look (someone’s cast away, stinky sneaks, natch).

You might recognize the Nike Cortez from everyone’s favorite long-distance runner, Forrest Gump.  While Forrest’s preferred red swoosh design is still available, there are some modern options as well.

The Onitsuka Tiger from Japan has been around forever.  JCrew now sells a version of these kicks, in honor of the style’s 30th anniversary.

The Stan Smith by Adidas was a 1970’s tennis stalwart.  No matter that there was no arch support or breathability in their all-leather design, these sneakers looked good on the courts!  The updated versions have some new whimsical detail in their perforated air vents, and hopefully some additional arch support.

Lastly, the New Balance 620 is no longer just your Grandpa’s walking shoe.  Well, maybe they still kind of are.  But styled right, it can add a bit of fun (and comfort) to your look.
