Having grown up in the household of an interior designer, I am entirely accustomed to having a home decorated lavishly in all things fall as soon as September came around.
So you can imagine the emptiness now that I live on my own on the cusp of adulthood with the sad singular leaf garland and pumpkin that are set in my room.
After doing the classic pumpkin picking trip this fall, I decided I was not going to allow this autumn to pass me by without carving a few pumpkins.
Fashionable and intricate pumpkin designs are a growing trend around the world, even forming contests and competitions. There are plenty of YouTube videos and how-to articles if you are a beginner like me, so don’t be afraid to try carving a designer pumpkin of your own.
Pumpkins can be carved traditionally, with a serrated knife, with stencil templates, and even using drills and exacto knives.
This autumn, don’t let the pumpkin season pass you by with just a trip to a pumpkin field and a few to many cups of Pumpkin Spice Latte. Pumpkin carvings can be styled for the entire autumn season, not just Halloween. Look up a few designs and methods, and get started to make your home feel as spectacularly autumnal as you would like it!
