A Girl’s Quick Guide to Contouring

If you’re anything like me, handling make up is tricky, messy, and not at all graceful. Most of the time, I’m set to go with tinted moisturizer and mascara.

However, for those more formal occasions where I’d like to make myself up a little, I’m never quite sure of how to really get that “wow factor.” Something that’ll make me look better, but not too different.

Then I heard of contouring…and I’ve never been so confused in my life.

You want me to put makeup that is two shades darker where??? And apply the highlighting shades how???

Then BuzzFeed started coming along with videos of goofy guys contouring, and I knew I had to catch up. So I did some research, asked a friend, and experimented, and came up with some pretty good results.

Contouring is traditionally done on your face, but has now expanded to be done anywhere, like your chest…and other places. Think of it as a PhotoShop you get to wear in real life. It highlights all your great features while covering up those you’d like to hide.

The best tutorial I found was this YouTube Video by AlexandrasGirlyTalk,

and a step-by-step guide from CoverGirl.

I wouldn’t say I’m a contouring pro now, makeup is still a foreign concept to me, but contouring has been made a little easier thanks to my research.

Hope it helps you, too!
