The d’Orsay Flat

If you haven’t noticed, one shoe trend this spring season is the d’Orsay flat. From stores like Target to high-end fashion labels, they are appearing on shelves in all sorts of patterns and fabrics. Every woman should have flats in their wardrobe, because they are comfortable, stylish, and quick to throw on with almost any outfit.

Get this: these shoes were historically worn by men! In the 1800’s, French soldier Count Alfred d’Orsay was looking for comfortable footwear for the military and he created a design which would allow feet to breathe and accommodate wider sized feet. As years progressed, women adopted the idea and the d’Orsay flat was born.  A fun new take on the flat!
