Just hearing the phrase can make you wonder: under what circumstances can one wear a shade of white after Labor Day? While this law does stem from some reasonable fashion roots, as white is typically more of a warmer weather color, it does not mean your entire winter wardrobe must consist of the grimmest shades of the rainbow. Try to avoid wearing starker shades of white on the lower portion of your body (you wouldn’t want to blend in with the winter snow and slush…or worse yet, have it stain your clothes!). Darker shades of cream work well for pea coats, scarves, gloves, and hats. Just because you’ve heard this fashion law for ages doesn’t mean there aren’t a few ways to bend it!
