The Boottique family is wrapping up the holidays with a bit of a celebration today! This is featured on the menu. It’s no secret that we love chocolate! Give this fabulous mousse a try. It’s delicious and looks elegant. Happy cooking!
Decadent Chocolate Mousse
4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
4 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
5 tablespoons unsalted butter
6 eggs, separated
Pinch of Salt
Heavy whipping cream
Raspberries, Strawberries, or garnish of choice
- Combine chocolates and butter in a heatproof bowl and set over a pot of simmering water to melt. Do not let the bowl touch the water. Once mixture is smooth, remove from heat and beat in the egg yolks.
- Place egg whites in a large, dry, clean bowl whisk egg whites and salt. Once stiff peaks form, fold a spoonful into chocolate mixture to loosen. Then, gradually add the remaining egg whites.
- Put mixture into serving dishes (we like to use pre-made chocolate cups). Chill for at least 4 hours.
- Prior to serving, whip heavy cream with sugar to taste. Top mousse with desired amount and decorative fruit.
