Holiday Happenings: Decadent Chocolate Mousse

The Boottique family is wrapping up the holidays with a bit of a celebration today! This is featured on the menu. It’s no secret that we love chocolate! Give this fabulous mousse a try. It’s delicious and looks elegant. Happy cooking!

Chocolate Mousse

Decadent Chocolate Mousse

4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

4 ounces dark chocolate, chopped

5 tablespoons unsalted butter

6 eggs, separated

Pinch of Salt

Chocolate Cups

Heavy whipping cream


Raspberries, Strawberries, or garnish of choice

  1. Combine chocolates and butter in a heatproof bowl and set over a pot of simmering water to melt. Do not let the bowl touch the water. Once mixture is smooth, remove from heat and beat in the egg yolks.
  2. Place egg whites in a large, dry, clean bowl whisk egg whites and salt. Once stiff peaks form, fold a spoonful into chocolate mixture to loosen. Then, gradually add the remaining egg whites.
  3. Put mixture into serving dishes (we like to use pre-made chocolate cups). Chill for at least 4 hours.
  4. Prior to serving, whip heavy cream with sugar to taste. Top mousse with desired amount and decorative fruit.
