Holiday Happenings: Noteworthy

While shopping this past weekend, it became VERY clear that the holidays are coming. It seems just moments following Halloween we’ve moved not only to Thanksgiving, but also straight to Hanukkah, Christmas, and New Year’s. True, this happens every year, but there is nothing quite like walking through a department store, littered in perfectly frosted Christmas trees accompanied by “Let it Snow” on the piano, then to walk outside to a remarkably mild, plain November day. Despite that so much of this feels premature to me, I love the arrival of holiday cards.

We’ve all heard it before: handwritten notes are so much better– and they are! I can get 30 emails in a day, but just one handwritten note that arrives the old fashion way in my mailbox is so much better than all of those emails combined. Sending and receiving mail is not specific to the holidays; the “just because” kind of note is always the best sort of surprise. In the spirit of the oh-so-early holiday cheer we are doused with every year upon blowing out the candles illuminating the pumpkins on the front porch, here are some of our favorite cards. Mail is lovely, say hello for the holidays, or just because!
